Kevin Robinson has been awarded the Subaru 'Most Outstanding Athlete' of 2007. Thats quite a title and one I originally snuffed at but then he has done some f**ucked up stuff this year. A 19foot flair is worthy. Although I am not sure he deserves the brand spanking new Subaru WRX rally car he was given! Seriously this has to be the best ever prize for a BMX rider?! I sure hope he is into driving and isn't just going to sell it...
A technical man from Subaru said, "Kevin is0 an amazing athlete and it was great to see him take delivery of his new Subaru Impreza WRX," said Lee Grodsky, regional marketing manager, Subaru of America, Inc. "The Impreza WRX is a perfect fit for an outstanding athlete with its symmetrical all-wheel drive and turbocharged boxer engine -- making it always ready for action. More at: mpora.com.

Pro BMX rider Cory "Nasty" Nastazio hosted a fun-filled benefit for injured friend and fellow rider Stephen Murray at his home in Tehachapi, CA on Saturday (October 6). Murray suffered a career-ending injury to his spinal cord and vertebra on Friday, June 22, 2007, while competing at the BMX Dirt Finals of the AST Dew Tour's Panasonic Open in Baltimore, MD. Murray spent six weeks recovering in Baltimore and was airlifted to Craig Hospital in Denver, where he continues to go through rehabilitation treatment.
While progress has been slow, Murray continues to inspire his family, friends, fans and fellow athletes with his spirit and hard work in physical therapy. Murray taped a greeting that was played at the 2007 NORA Cup Awards in Las Vegas that touched everyone who saw it. Murray is scheduled to return to Southern California by the end of the year though no date is set at this time. More at: lat34.com.

Today we are going back in time and see what Snap Magazine showed us in the november/december issue of 1998. One of the headliners was the NBL race in South Park. NBL South Park - The most anticipated race of the year. Year after year there's one race everyone can't wait to attend-the NBL's "Stars 'N Stripes" National. Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the South Park track is nearly every rider's favorite. This track's got almost everything: a cool, slightly downhill layout, technical rhytem, long and wide open straightaways, and best of all, big jumps. The track has been around for years and seems to get better with age. Each year the promoters make small modifications, and these changes always add to the track's popularity. Since the race is held on the weekend of the Fourth of July, you can usally count on good weather. Outdoor tracks and races tend to be the best, with the smoothest surfaces, the widest straights and the fastest head-to-head racing. South Park is one of the kings and this year is still reined supreme.

Today we got a mail from a dude named Brian Gross. He told us Discovery Channel is going to broadcast a new show named "Last One Standing" featuring Jason Bennett, Florida's 2006 Pro State Series BMX Champion. The new series, Last One Standing, features six athletes – three American and three British – immersed in the most remote tribes in the world, where they live alongside and train with indigenous tribesmen as they prepare to represent their host tribe in raw and intense competition. From Zulu stick fighting in South Africa to an arduous foot race in the Mexican mountains - wearing only handmade sandals - these men push their physical and mental limits to see who really is the last one standing. Last One Standing premieres Thursday, October 4, at 9 PM ET/PT.

If you are looking to do some more advanced tricks, (i.e. barspins, suicides) try putting your seatpost a little higher so you can grab it with your knees, I see alot of riders who keep the seat really low, and that can be hard to grab the seat. Also, move the seat forward in the rails, this is equally important and helps a lot. It may feel funny to ride at first but it should help if your'e trying to get your riding to the next level.
