GT Bicycles is a large American manufacturer of road, mountain, and BMX bicycles. The company was founded in 1979 by Gary Turner, a welding engineer and Richard Long, a bike shop owner. The company merged with Schwinn in 1998, but the conglomerate went bankrupt in 2001, and was acquired by Pacific Cycle. Dorel Industries acquired Pacific Cycle in 2004. Early BMX frames were easily identifiable as the top tube seemed to dissect the seat tube and protrude beyond it by approximately an inch-and-a-half towards the rear of the frame. This innovative idea actually provided no structural performance, but did seem to be aesthetically pleasing to the overall design. Later versions would actually have the customary "GT" letters stamped on the end of the protruding tube. The company has equipped many successful athletes, including: Thomas Allier, Robert Dewilde, Randy Stumpfhauser,...
The new Ultrabox still has the same frame as the previous years.

Pro BMX rider Cory "Nasty" Nastazio hosted a fun-filled benefit for injured friend and fellow rider Stephen Murray at his home in Tehachapi, CA on Saturday (October 6). Murray suffered a career-ending injury to his spinal cord and vertebra on Friday, June 22, 2007, while competing at the BMX Dirt Finals of the AST Dew Tour's Panasonic Open in Baltimore, MD. Murray spent six weeks recovering in Baltimore and was airlifted to Craig Hospital in Denver, where he continues to go through rehabilitation treatment.
While progress has been slow, Murray continues to inspire his family, friends, fans and fellow athletes with his spirit and hard work in physical therapy. Murray taped a greeting that was played at the 2007 NORA Cup Awards in Las Vegas that touched everyone who saw it. Murray is scheduled to return to Southern California by the end of the year though no date is set at this time. More at: lat34.com.

Stephen Murray is a pro BMX Dirt Jumper who was injured recently at the 1st stop of the AST Dew Tour. He crushed his 3,4 and 5th cervical vertebrae and consequently suffered some damage to his spinal chord. He is currently in Colorado undergoing rehabilitation like a mechanical bicycle that pedals for him!
The support around the world has been truly amazing and your dollars that you donated have already been put to use for things like the air ambulance that transported him from the Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore to the rehab center in Colorado.

Making the lip is one of the most essential parts in building jumps. I am not saying they have to be perfect but it helps if they are. I read the other article on lips entitled "how to get a good lip," and that isn't gonna help anyone so I decided to write one of my own.
When you make your launch shape it and pack it first. You can cut the lip after its packed which is a lot easier and less time consuming as you will screw the lip up time and time again by making the lip then doing the packing.

Rob Wise has been added to the Mirraco team. This is what Gator had to say about it when he found the words:
“I sat here and tried to think of a million different ways I could introduce Rob Wise to the team, so I decided on the first.

Remember when the X-Games pulled "Downhill Racing" out of the summer games. Well, now BMX Dirt is pulled from the X-Games. They replaced it with BMX Big Air and... Womens Surfing 8O. The good: Big Air will be televised for free and women in bikinis. The bad: No Dirt!
From the ESPN X Games Press Release:
LOS ANGELES – ESPN
"BMX Big Air, which was featured as a pay-per-view event at X Games 12, will now be part of the live network coverage. After 12 successful years as an X Games event, BMX Dirt will not be in this year's lineup. Fourteen hours of live programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will be offered as well as X Games 13 coverage on ESPN International, EXPN.com, ESPN Classic, ESPN360, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center."
